The Gettysburg
Honoring all the women who served in various capacities before, during, and following the Battle of Gettysburg. Ron Tunison was commissioned to sculpt the 7-foot bronze statue of a 6-month pregnant Elizabeth Thorn, who buried the first 91 soldiers from the Battle of Gettysburg in Evergreen Cemetery. The Memorial was erected 50 feet southwest of the historic cemetery gatehouse.
A bronze
plaque will be placed outside the cemetery's office
listing the major donors to The Gettysburg Civil War
Women's Memorial. The following categories will be
listed: Special Gift, Patron, Sponsor and Friend.
